Student at UC Santa Barbara

I am a 3rd-year biology major, religious studies minor undergraduate student at UCSB!! I value many things about my college: the friends I've made, the memories created, the academic and social environment, and so much more. In my free time, I love to play basketball, read, play card games, and watch movies with friends.

Describe your college experience

I had a rough time moving in my freshman year. I felt alone, like I didn't know anybody. I actually really did not feel at home, but as time went on, I found joy in little things and grew closer with my friends and roommates, made so many new memories, put myself out there. I did things I never could have imagined myself doing- random things and I pushed myself emotionally, physically, and academically farther than ever. The opportunities and friendships I am afforded at UCSB is unique to anything I have ever experienced, and now I am so excited to go back for my junior year.

Tip for future students

Everybody's story looks different. You cannot force yourself to be what you think a student entering college looks like, and don't be discouraged by what other people are doing. There are so many opportunities in college to be in spaces that are for you, and some of them take time, but you will find them.

Favorite class

I loved philosophy 4: I had a great and funny professor that made every single day at class funny and interesting. I looked forward to it. I also learned so much and made friends in that class. I also loved organic chemistry lab: It was so interesting and all made sense conceptually, which made it fun to study. I enjoyed figuring things out, and Dr.Gainer and my TA were amazing and I went to almost every single office hour to learn more from them.

Career goals

I would like to go to medical school and be a doctor.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I would love to go on a sunset run, the best ones are on DP, and I would finish it with an ocean dip, getting food in IV with friends, and bringing it back to watch a show at home with us all.

Favorite spot on campus

I love the Pacific View room on the 8th floor of the library, honestly. Many people are driven away by how quiet it is, but I enjoy the silence, and the surrounding windows all throughout the room allow for the most beautiful views from all of campus. It is especially gorgeous in the early mornings, when you can watch the sunrise, and in the evenings, the sunset on the ocean.
