Hi! My name is Zach, I'm a 4th year at UCLA
I'm a rising fourth year Physiological Science major at UCLA, looking to apply to medical school soon. I'm from Riverside, California. I'm part of many organizations here on campus, such as Bruin Sports Analytics, Samahang Pilipino, UCLA Phi Chi Medical Fraternity, and Project Lux, as well as research within a lab. In my free time I love playing basketball, tennis, and pickleball on the hill and staying active in the gym.

Describe your college experience
Applied in 2023 and got in as a traditional student. Spent the first few quarters adjusting to the fast-paced quarter system before really getting the ball rolling with extracurriculars. Right now I'm currently studying for the MCAT and taking it in September, planning on applying to medical school next cycle.
Tip for future students
One tip for sure is to not be afraid to put yourself out there in your first year! Apply to as many clubs as you want and talk to random people on your floor, because everyone is trying to make friends and adjust to college life. Find out what classes you're good at early, and pursue things within that area.
Favorite class
My favorite class has been Physiological Science- study of aging (Shoutout David Walker!) You get to learn about the mechanisms of longevity from researchers at the forefront of the field! Learning about how we age and the methods that scientists have been using to prolong lifespan was not only incredibly interesting, but also practical.
Career goals
Attend medical school, eventually become a Dermatologist or Anesthesiologist. Also considering Nurse Anesthetist pathway.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Heading to Sawtelle or Koreatown with friends for some good Japanese food. Exploring LA in general.
High school or secondary school
Martin Luther King High School in Riverside CA

Favorite spot on campus
The Powell Library Reading Room is my favorite place to lock in during finals week. Seeing everyone else focused makes you work harder. I have a lot more places but those are getting gatekept for those doing tours.
Meeting point
Bruin Statue on the University of California Los Angeles campus
