Hello! My name is Michelle, and I am a fourth-year transfer student from the Los Angeles area. I am majoring in Anthropology with a minor in Public Health, and I am interested in pursuing the pre-physician assistant pathway. I currently serve as a resident assistant in the transfer student residence hall, De Neve Holly. I also work on campus with Housing and Hospitality and hold a leadership position in a club. In my free time, I enjoy studying at cafés, trying new food spots, spending time with friends, and going to the movies.

Describe your college experience

I would describe my college experience in two words: too short! As a transfer student, I have only spent two years at a four-year university, and I cannot believe I am already a senior. During my time here, I have made many unforgettable memories, from ice blocking down the steps to having picnics at Sunset Rec. I have enjoyed learning from my professors and meeting so many wonderful people throughout my college journey.

Tip for future students

My advice for future students is to get involved, ask for help when you need it, and take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. College can go by very quickly, especially for transfer students, so make time to meet new people, explore campus, and create memories outside of the classroom. Do not be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone, because some of the best experiences can come from trying something new.

Favorite class

Anthro 140 has been my favorite class so far. I learned about social justice issues within a country and how they affect its residents. This class helped me understand political change from a different perspective and view it in a new light.

Career goals

My career goal is to become a physician assistant. I hope to provide compassionate, patient-centered care while working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals. I am especially interested in building meaningful relationships with patients and helping improve access to quality healthcare.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is trying a new food spot with friends and then going to the movie theater. I also enjoy having a relaxing night at a café, catching up with friends, and taking a break from schoolwork.
