Describe your college experience

My experience so-far has been wonderful at UCSB! I transitioned from jumping back and forth between my mom and dads houses to finally having my own space at school. I have to admit, at first I had trouble adjusting to the workload of my classes alongside meeting a lot of different people. I got a taste of college-level classes that were not advanced placement courses that I took in high school. I ended up getting weeded out of the chemistry series. Of course, I was very upset with myself but I learned to move on and use this hardship as redirection. Spring quarter, I changed into political science and sociology and picked classes for sociology. During those classes, I found a sense of passion for what I was learning in the classroom. I cannot wait to take more sociology classes this upcoming school year along with political science classes. To shift away from academics into the social aspect of my college experience, I am very thankful that I tried out for the women's club volleyball team. I ended up meeting some of my closest friends who have helped me find a sense of belonging here at UCSB. Some of the girls that I have met through this program uplifted me on and off the court. I have also made many close friends outside of club volleyball who I can trust and feel comfortable with as well. My first year experience was truly unforgettable and I am beyond thankful for everyone who made it memorable.

Tip for future students

- Try your best to be on top of your school work (refrain from procrastination!) - Reach out for help before it's too late (CLAS, TAs, Professors, classmates, etc.) - Don't be afraid to approach new people (they may end up being your closest friends) - Live in the present (take every opportunity you can to make memories!)

Favorite class

My favorite class is SOC 1 which is intro to Sociology. This class is required for the sociology major and I learned about the different viewpoints and ways our society functions. This introduction class makes me very eager to pursue the major and enroll in more sociology courses in the future.

Career goals

After college, I want to attend law school in hopes of becoming a corporate defense attorney who helps clients through legal challenges and protects their businesses​/​products.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is connecting my DJ board to my laptop and mixing my favorite songs. In my free time I always try to practice since I am just a beginner. There are still a lot of things I have to learn about mixing! Other than mixing, I also love going on walks with a friend or with my mom, so we can catch up and chat. I also love getting snacks and watching a movie on the couch.

My favorite spot on campus has to be campus point. I love watching the sunset from campus point and I can always go there to clear my head.
