A couple of things about me: if I'm not at one of our campus' eight libraries studying or doing homework, outside of school, I enjoy working on different art projects, or making furniture​/​appliances for my room and my parents back at home.

I consider myself a Dallas native. Before covid I lived in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood here in Dallas, but just before covid got serious we moved out to Rowlett. I still went to school in Dallas though so I consider here my home.

Clubs, organizations & involvement

Currently I'm in intramural soccer, OCF (Orthodox Christian Fellowship), Hilltop Motorsports (SMU's Formula Team), a Turner Scholar, employee at the Deason Innovation Gym (DIG), and a Thrive Mentor for the Lyle School of Engineering.

Describe your college experience

So far it's been incredible. Coming in as a freshman, I moved in early with a group of other students because I was a Turner Scholar and we did a bunch of fun activities before the school year started to get to know each other. I will say, when school starts it can be hard adjusting to living on your own or with a roommate, and making friends can be difficult when all you do is go to class and study but usually within that first 2 weeks everyone knows one another, SMU has a really small campus.

Tip for future students

My advice is to have a focus but always branch out. I came in for engineering but I've taken advertising, film, and foreign culture classes as a way to complete my Gen Ed. requirements. Another piece of advice I have is to make friends; SMU is about forming networks and making connections but in a fun sense not robotic. While people here take their career really seriously, it's not a robotic competitive Ivy League where everyone's a sweat. People here enjoy talking about future plans and having fun. My personal anecdote is I only picked up the physics major also because one of my close friends was in physics.

Favorite class

My favorite class honestly was my Communications and Advertisement Writing class (CCPA 1313). That class taught me to expand my knowledge on pop culture phenomenon's such as NIL and the impacts of mass tourism to name a few. This class taught me that these things actually matter and heavily contribute to the way society and institutions run in the modern day. One of my favorite things that occurred in that class was when we got Alex Jean Glover (a former SMU volleyball player turned sports commentator that's also the fiancée of New York Knicks player Trey Jemison III) to be a guest speaker at one of our classes. She's really close to the professor that teaches the program, Chris Coats, and was one of the first online college celebrities that utilized social media prior to NIL, and was the highest earning NIL athlete in 2024.

Career goals

My plans are to get a PhD in physics then either work in the energy sector, automotive, or commercial aerospace field. I also want to act in films and produce art on the side.

Ideal way to spend a free night

On a free night, I like hanging out with my friends at their apartments. We usually just binge-watch shows and order food. Sometimes I may hit up the Kaity Trail, Dallas Farmers Market, Klyde Warren Park, or the historical sector of Dallas if there's no big exams coming up. If you're interested in having a night life, assuming you're over 21, there's the Goodbye Horses and Barley House bars on SMU Boulevard and a list of clubs closer to Deep Ellum.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spots on campus are the DIG and the Dedman Gym. Most people at the gym like to work out and play volleyball or basketball but I personally enjoy swimming a lot. The DIG, or Deason Innovation Gym, is a creative space where you can 3D Print, Laser Cut, UV Print, Woodwork, play with electronics, and work on projects (personal or class), you'd just need to be oriented by a lab technician such as myself. It's a social and accepting place, I've seen people make 12 foot long murals, drones, and furniture in there before.
