Describe your college experience

Despite popular opinion, college classes proved to be much more enjoyable and therefore easier than high school, so the transition to this life was quite smooth. At first, it was difficult to balance social life and academics, having never had this much freedom, but I quickly fell into a routine, finding people with a similar work-life balance that allowed me to focus on my studies. I had a lot of family drama in the background of this first year, and often found it difficult to concentrate as I was constantly going home and coming back, but with the right support from both friends and teachers, I was able to excel in my classes and learn when to ask for help.

Tip for future students

Talk to the professors and more importantly talk to the TAs. Your TAs are some of the most underrated people but not only are they helping teach the class and discussions, they are a lot closer in age and can help with getting research opportunities and internships. Also, if you can build a good relationship with them, they will be more inclined to help when you have a borderline grade.

Favorite class

I absolutely loved my MUSC-78 class, which explored south asian classical and folk music. As a marine bio major, I have been finding it hard to fit in classes that are not major requirements, so when I saw this class I knew I had to take it. I spent 12 years learning Indian classical music and even gave a solo graduation concert, so I wanted to get back into something I am so passionate about while at college and this was the perfect experience.

Career goals

I want to get my masters in marine biology and possibly a pHd and eventually do field research, working on coral reef restoration and climate conversation with a special interest in sharks.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I love to have a chill night in hanging out with my friends, watching some fun movie at one of our apartments with some good food. I love being around people so anytime I get to spend with even just one friend is always fun and memorable to me.
