I am a college freshman at the University of Central Florida.

Hi! My name is Jianna Quintanilla and I attend UCF. I love everything about Orlando and the school's campus, usually always have something to do around the area. It's a great location I love to explore with friends and family whom strongly bring out my outgoing and social side.

Describe your college experience

It's very easy to make friends at this campus as there are many events hosted by students to get people involved, which gives one a great opportunity to make friends. The professors here are extremely helpful, always open for the best options for their students which helps a lot on the academic side which is very important. It's easy to balance school and the social life with the right friends and guidance along the way at this amazing school.

Tip for future students

It's important to spend your final moments in high school preparing for the college life. Knowing how to manage deadlines and potential loads of work or constant exams helps one be prepared for the college life as no one is on top of you and you're essentially on your own. It's always best to stay on top of your things and know how to be your own voice because they will start contacting you directly instead of your parents. College life can be a smooth and easy transition with the right preparation.

Favorite class

My favorite class in college has been the enjoyment of music. I have an amazing professor who doesn't simply sit there and assign work but likes to interact with his students make them partake in some vocal activities which helps retain the information in the course.

Career goals

After college, I plan on attending grad school where I get my masters degree in accounting and earn my CPA. I later plan to attend law school where I'd like to specialize in tax law.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is by hanging out with friends doing something that relieves stress. If the plans are in the day I'd love to go to the beach, since I grew up in Miami it's where I spent a lot of my time and felt at peace. If the plans are at night I'd rather watch a movie make some food and dessert and spend time together.

High school or secondary school

I attended Barbara Goleman Senior High School in Hialeah, FL.

Previous college

Although I'm not a transfer, I did gain college credit being a Dual Enrollment student at Miami-Dade College. Their program worked alongside the high school, but was not done through it which makes it practically it's own college experience. The credits and classes were easy to take, professors were a little more strict or harder even.
