Kate - Senior Accounting University of Alabama Student

Hi Everyone! My name is Kate. I am a senior accounting major at The University of Alabama! I'm from Philadelphia, PA, and have loved every second of my college experience at UA. I started college as a nursing major but transferred into the accounting program as a junior. I'm headed to Nashville following graduation to pursue public accounting with the Big 4 as an Audit Associate.

Describe your college experience

Moving far away from home as a freshman was a very overwhelming experience for me, but I immediately fell in love with The University of Alabama's campus and people. I rushed as a freshman, which really helped with the transition because I was surrounded by so many other girls who were in the same position as me. I also met older girls who helped to guide me through the transition to college. I switched majors twice throughout my experience here and finally settled on Accounting, which has served me through college and now for my future. I worked as a Peer Leader in the College of Communication and Information Science as a mentor for first semester freshman students which helped me to give back to my community at UA. Over the last four years, I have grown to call this place home and built friendships that will last a lifetime.

Tip for future students

Before coming to Alabama, I wish I had known about more campus resources and opportunities. The University has so many wonderful programs available to help students grow and learn! I

Favorite class

My favorite class was Luxury Brand Management, which I took while studying abroad in Florence. I got to immerse myself in one of Italy's broadest markets while simultaneously exploring Europe. The course was extremely informative and interactive, and it is an experience I truly value.

Career goals

I have accepted a job in Big 4 Accounting as a full-time Audit Associate for PWC Private.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is walking to dinner with my friends at Taco Mama, then coming home and having a girls night on our front porch.
