Explore UCF with a Recent Graduate Who Knows Campus Life!
Hi! I'm Hieu, a recent graduate of the University of Central Florida with a bachelor's degree in Marketing, and I'll be starting my master's in Data Analytics this fall. I've spent several years studying and working in Orlando, so I've experienced UCF from many different perspectives—academics, campus life, student organizations, dining, housing, and balancing school with part-time jobs. I've worked in customer service at Walt Disney World and Chili's, where I learned how to communicate with people from all over the world and create welcoming experiences. During our tour, feel free to ask me anything! Whether you're curious about choosing a major, finding housing, getting involved on campus, living in Orlando, or what it's really like to be a UCF student, I'm happy to share my honest experience. I want our conversation to feel relaxed, informative, and personalized to what matters most to you.

Describe your college experience
Moving from Vietnam to the United States for college was both exciting and challenging. As an international student at UCF, I had to adapt to a new culture, improve my English, and learn how to balance academics, work, and daily life. Over the years, UCF became my second home. I earned my bachelor's degree in Marketing while working part-time in customer service, which helped me develop strong communication and time management skills. My college experience taught me resilience, independence, and the importance of stepping outside my comfort zone. I'll also be returning to UCF this fall to begin my master's degree in Data Analytics, so I'm excited to continue my journey as a Knight.
Tip for future students
Don't be afraid to ask questions and take advantage of the resources UCF offers. Visit your professors during office hours, attend career fairs early, and get involved on campus—even if it's just one club or event each semester. Orlando has a lot to offer, so explore beyond campus too. Most importantly, don't compare your journey to anyone else's. Everyone adjusts to college at a different pace, and it's okay if it takes time to find your place.
Favorite class
One of my favorite classes was Business Research for Decision Making. I enjoyed learning how to collect and analyze data to solve real business problems. The class challenged me to think critically, conduct market research, and make recommendations based on evidence instead of assumptions. It also sparked my interest in data analytics, which inspired me to pursue a master's degree in the field.
Career goals
After completing my master's degree in Data Analytics, I hope to build a career as a data analyst or business analyst. I'm passionate about using data to help organizations make better decisions and improve customer experiences. I also enjoy learning new technologies and hope to continue growing in a role where I can combine analytical thinking with business strategy.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night is pretty simple. I enjoy trying new coffee shops or restaurants around Orlando, watching a good movie, taking a walk around Lake Eola or campus, or spending time with friends. Sometimes I also like staying in, listening to music, and learning something new, especially about data analytics or technology.
