Marketing/Business Data Analyst Junior Undergrad @ Isenberg School of Management

Hi everyone! My name is Yunni Hwang and I am currently pursuing a Marketing and Business Data Analytics degree at the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst. Around campus, I'm involved with the asian community through various asian clubs as well as campus ministry. I attend the Isenberg School of Management, where I study Marketing and Business Data Analytics, but I love it! The campus has so many things and opportunities to offer as an undergraduate student where I felt the most successful and inspired. On your tour, I'm excited to share about my personal experiences as a undergraduate student, as well as how to smoothly transition into college life and hidden tips to gems around the campus. I want to let you know how to get the best experience out of the college experience!

Describe your college experience

I have met so many amazing people that thought me a lot about the world as well as about myself. Through communication, I was able to listen to amazing stories about people with different upbringings. During college, taking part in clubs and activities enabled me to broaden my horizons by gaining new insights and information to carry throughout my life and into my future career.

Tip for future students

Things I wished I’d know is definitely being the first person to initiate things such as events, networking, and even making new friends beyond my usual environment.

Favorite class

My favorite class is Business Intelligence and Analytics. My professor taught me various types of information and tips to succeed within the business/tech world. As I am interested in engaging with AI, I want to continue getting more experience with working with AI agents and being part of difficult conversations that require me to think more complex.

Career goals

I hope to either continue my studies into graduate school or find work that relates to my major. Some plans I have in mind are completing an international internship or working a job preferably within Business data or Marketing.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is to sit with my friends and watch a movie with a big bowl of popcorn and candy. I also enjoy watching the movie at night to set the ambiance.

High school or secondary school

Suffield High School

Previous college

I transferred from community college by the name of Asnuntuck Community College. During my time there, I took online classes that challenged my thinking and abilities to dive deeper into the world of Marketing and gain appreciation for Data Science. My transfer experience was really good and I was able to form connections and deep relationships withy professors that opened the door to explore new job opportunities.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is sitting on the lawn chairs in front of the campus pond. I like to look at the different types of animals like birds and chipmunks that swim around the pond.

Meeting point

Minuteman Monument on the University of Massachuseets Amherst campus
