Hello! My name is Dilara, I'm a rising sophomore at UChicago who has resided in Hyde Park since 2019. I am very familiar with both the college campus as well as Hyde Park as a whole, and of course Chicago, as I was born and raised here! I love this school and campus very much and am happy to show anyone around, whether that be prospective students, incoming students and family!

Describe your college experience
I've had a very strong college experience so far. I was very eager in first quarter, but the opportunities here are very overwhelming! Being at a school that has this much to offer can be stressful and scary but the more you know the better you can navigate your first year. For me, it's been such a great one full of making lovely friends and challenging myself more than I ever had academically and career wise. I've learned a lot about myself as a person, and grown exponentially.
Tip for future students
Please reach out to current students/other incoming students in the summer! It's a great way to make friends and it's comforting to have a face you recognize on campus. Don't worry so much about making as many friends as possible right away though! Also, take a look at majors/minors early, as well as clubs/RSOs. But overall, don't stress! The first couple weeks are so much fun.
Favorite class
My favorite class so far was my Humanities class, Greece and Rome: Texts, Traditions, Transformations I–II–III. I absolutely adored my class and professor. It was very engaging and we didn't just read epics and plays, we also read Frankenstein in winter quarter and Paradise Lost in fall! Take a hum class you're interested in, not what people say is easy!
Career goals
I plan to pursue a career in finance, however I'm not married to a specific path quite yet! (Depending on how recruitment goes, etc etc.)
Ideal way to spend a free night
I love spending time with my friends so probably doing anything with them, like getting dinner, going out or watching a movie. If I wanted to be alone, then drawing or video games!
