I am a fourth year Applied Physics student at UCSC.

Outside of school, I play the guitar, and watch a lot of movies. I love the UCSC campus, and have grown pretty familiar with it during my 3 years here. As a freshman, I was in Porter College and regularly had to make the trek to science hill for my classes, and I have lived off campus since my sophomore year so I am very familiar with the bus system.

Describe your college experience

I was very lucky to live near lots of like minded people (a testament to the UCSC college system), so I was able to make lots of friends pretty quickly, most of which I am still friends with today. As for the academic side, I was really able to ease into harder classes, my first two years was filled with GEs and prereqs for higher division classes.

Tip for future students

The college you end up in does matter, make sure you pick the one you would feel most comfortable in as your social life will be made easier if you live around like minded people. I wish I knew more about the housing situation in Santa Cruz, it’s pretty rough and it’s super valuable to get a jump on housing if you’re planning on living off campus.

Favorite class

I took a class my freshman year called Natural History of Dinosaurs. It was a GE but the professor was super engaging and that class was a lot of fun and I learned a lot.

Career goals

I hope to eventually go to grad school and then probably get a research job.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Go see a movie, or just have friends over.
