Kaitlyn Osorio

Hey everyone, welcome to SMU! My name is Kaitlyn Osorio, and I’ll be your tour guide today. I’m actually a Dallas native born and raised, so I’ve watched this campus and this city grow my entire life. Right now, I’m working on my Master of Science in Management at the Cox School of Business. I absolutely love SMU because it gives you the perfect mix of a tight-knit campus community right in the heart of a booming city. Whether you want to talk about navigating grad school life, the best spots in the Cox School, or where to find the absolute best tacos in Dallas, I’ve got you covered. I'm so excited to show you around Pony Express territory today!

Describe your college experience

My college experience has been centered on learning the ultimate balancing act. Moving into higher education meant transitioning from a traditional student mindset to a fast-paced environment where I had to manage a demanding business workload, compete as a collegiate athlete, and serve as a leader on campus. It was a massive shift that taught me intense discipline right out of the gate. My journey has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to win a national soccer title, earn academic honors, and build a deep appreciation for strong communities.

Tip for future students

Get involved right away but learn how to protect your calendar. College opens the door to so many incredible leadership roles, clubs, and sports, but the most important skill you can practice early on is balancing those commitments so you do not burn out.

Favorite class

My favorite courses focus on business operations and strategic marketing. I love breaking down the logistics of how organizations run and studying the data behind how to build, scale, and market an organic brand from scratch.

Career goals

After graduating with my Master of Science in Management from the Cox School of Business, I plan to pursue a law degree and merge my background in business operations and campus leadership into a professional legal career.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My perfect free night is all about unwinding and recharging by exploring the Dallas food scene with close friends, trying out a new fitness class, or exploring new parks in the city like Katy trail.
