Describe your college experience
I was very lucky to have a smooth transition because I clicked very well with my roommate and developed a friend group including us two. I've also found a community in Wushu, Societal AI, and from my classes. I have taken classes from Calc II to private music lessons to Mass Migration, totaling 35 credits in one year.
Tip for future students
There are opportunities everywhere to grow and learn as a person. Do not only apply yourself in the prestigious or popular communities--though there is nothing wrong with that either--and see where UVA takes you. There are amazing people everywhere. I never would have thought I am doing what I am now, but I love the people I surround myself with.
Favorite class
My favorite class is Mass Migration by Professor Levi Vonk because it's the first class I've taken where the professor is so immersed into the subject. I've learned the most directly life-applicable things from this class, even reading the book Border Hackers written by Professor Vonk about his journey across the US-Mexico border as a journalist during the immigration crisis during Obama's administration.
Career goals
I'm open to many different fields as of now! My activities and interests now would likely lead me to do something like consulting or technology policy analyst.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Face masks, pizza, a few of my friends, and good movies and conversations.
