Hey! I’m Daniel, a first-gen student at the University of California, San Diego. I come from a small town and had to figure out the college process on my own, so I understand how stressful it can be. Describe your college experience
My transition to college has been both exciting and rewarding. Moving to the University of California, San Diego as a first-generation student was a big change, and at first, it felt a little overwhelming being in a completely new environment. But along the way, I’ve met new people, tried new experiences, and learned how to become more independent. While there were challenges, they helped me grow and build confidence. Overall, my college experience has pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way and has been both fun and incredibly rewarding.
Tip for future students
Don’t be afraid to ask for help and use the resources available to you at the University of California, San Diego. Also, step out of your comfort zone, try new things, and meet new people. It’s okay not to have everything figured out right away; that’s part of the process.
Favorite class
My favorite classes has been USP series (urban planning). I love learning about development, especially since everyone one day wishes to become a homeowner. I also find myself very engaged in the MGT courses as management pushes you to work with different types of people and they are so fun.
Career goals
I hope to get a role In Business management and possibly become a Real Estate Developer.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Explore new areas in San Diego. There is so much to do, like go to Little Italy, Coronado, La Jolla shores, and much more. I love exploring new food spots, hiking, and am always willing try new things. I also like staying in, hitting the gym, and cooking.
