Describe your college experience
The transition from community college to Berkeley was very overwhelming in the sense that there are so many things to get involved in and I had a hard time finding the things I was interested in. I've been able to find people that are so genuine, focused, unique and inspiring that I'm thoroughly impressed by the caliber of people that attend UC Berkeley. The challenges that are presented are invaluable lessons for growth not only academically but professionally and personally. Berkeley has enabled me to do deep reflection on my core values and aspirations, and I've recieved incredible support from faculty and peers.
Tip for future students
Definitley plan, even to the extent of overplaying. Start early and treat socializing as another class or responsibility. There's so much to be learning from your peers so prioritize getting to know as many people as possible. Don't over prioritize your academics, your job is to meet people, learn, and apply that knowledge as quick as possible. Don't worry about not being ready becasue the day you'll be ready is the day after you learned how to do the thing you weren't ready for. Don't believe that everyone has their life together because they don't and if they "do", that plan will likely fall apart. Don't fall into the trap of conventional timelines, not everyone follows the same path, and different paths will still lead to success. Praise yourself along the way and celebrate your successes, learn to be present and grounded, grateful for going to school everyday.
Favorite class
Leading Strategy Implementation: It was a business consulting style course that allows you to step into the role of a C-suite executive. I loved learning from Professor Groth who has extensive international business experience, and getting to learn about leadership frameworks and exceuting strategies for business success.
Career goals
I hope to launch a successful business that eventually allows me to continue building and founding new businesses. I love entreprenuership due to the scrappy, fast paced, real-time turnover, aspect of being a founder, and I love meeting and brainstorming innovative solutions with likeminded people who love to grind and get results.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Ohh, I love a good night out in San Francisco for a nice drink at a Jazz bar with friends and playing billiards !! If I were to spend it at home, definitely a spa night, making a bouquet of flowers for my desk, and watching the OC or Shark Tank.
High school or secondary school
California Connections Academy - Online school (I was an elite gymnast so I attended school online)
Previous college
Golden West College in Huntington Beach. I had a wonderful time here, I was Vice President of Student Advocacy, got to travel to nationwide conferences to advocate for my platform: Financial Literacy, and contribute to the passing of California legislation to implement financial literacy cirriculum for all California Community College students! I got to learn so much about event planning, leading and excecuting with a team, and extracting institutional pain points to address for the betterment of my community and all of California. The professors and staff could not have been more supportive, and I was so happy to be able to work with them as a Financial Accounting tutor. I had a very well rounded and full experience there so I'm very grateful for that.
