Hi! My name's Osi and I'm a third-year biology major on the pre-med track at The Ohio State University and Columbus has been home to me ever since move-in day. I chose OSU for its incredible research opportunities, tight-knit college communities within a Big Ten campus, and of course, the energy on game day. Whether you're figuring out how to balance coursework, navigate pre-med advising, or just find the best study spots on campus, I've been in your shoes and I'm here to give you an honest, student's perspective of life at OSU.

Describe your college experience

My transition was honestly one of the highlights of my first year. Before classes even started, I took part in an early arrival program through my scholarship group and those early friendships made the difference. Having people to navigate a new campus with, grab meals with, and lean on from day one gave me a real foundation. I now tutor students in chemistry and biology courses, and am on the executive board of multiple student life and academic clubs. That said, I know my experience was on the smoother end. I've seen others struggle with the adjustment such as feeling lost in large lectures, missing home, or not knowing where to find their community. Those experiences shaped how I think about helping incoming students. I genuinely believe that with the right preparation and the right connections early on, everyone can hit the ground running and actually enjoy the process.

Tip for future students

Don't knock anything before you try it, whether its an academic opportunity or the food at Scott Traditions. Stay inside your dorm as little as possible. Campus literally ALWAYS has something going on that can interest you and may lead to an opportunity. Staying too often will only diminish your experience. Don't skip class, it builds a serious habit that students from 1st-4th year and beyond have trouble breaking.

Favorite class

Parasite Evolution. I'm currently taking this class. It's about the evolutionary history and pathology of parasites across all domains of life. If you have a strong stomach, I would definitely recommend this class.

Career goals

My immediate goal is OSU med-school. Ultimately, my goal is to become an othopedic doctor.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Have pool tournaments in the dorms, host my friends and play mario kart in my apartment.
