UCSB Campus Guide
I am a first year student at UCSB double majoring in Data Science and Ocean Science. I am an avid waterman and love the beach, as well as being outside and staying active. Extensive exploration of what Santa Barbara has to offer (and what to avoid) has made me a capable and eager tour guide.

Describe your college experience
My transition to college has been a huge adjustment, but very enjoyable. UCSB puts me closer to all the things I loved to do at home, like the beach and gym, and I have much more time and freedom to decide how and when I'd like to do them. Missing my parents, job, and car have been difficult, but ultimately make me appreciate what I have waiting for me at home even more. I have learned how to be happy and content in different situations.
Tip for future students
Forget any kind of external opinions or pressure, espcially career-related. Go to the school that you know you'll have fun at, or that you have friends at. You will not only hate a school chosen based on prestiege or outside pressure, but you will be unmotivated and perform poorly. Enjoying your life at school is more important than any other factor.
Favorite class
Geography 3 (Ocean and Atmosphere). I love the ocean and learning about the things I see on a daily basis, and this class has been the closest I've come so far.
Career goals
Anything related to the ocean, especially if it is public safety, environment, or data related. Working in something related to storm forecasting, prevention, and preparation would be incredibly interesting.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal night would be spent camping with friends, cooking and eating dinner around a campfire and listening to music.
