Charles RNew

Hello! My name is Charlie and I am a sophomore from Maryland studying Magazine, News, and Digital Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. I am also minoring in English and Textual Studies through the College of Arts and Sciences. I am involved in multiple clubs on campus including Otto's Army, Syracuse's official student section. I also have an older sister who graduated from the School of Education in May of 2025, so I've spent quite a few years visiting/studying at Syracuse. I look forward to helping you learn more about Syracuse and find out if it's the place for you!

Describe your college experience

I applied early decision and have had a great time so far. Syracuse helps ensure a smooth transition for incoming students and has lots of resources available to you.

Tip for future students

I had a wealth of knowledge before starting because of my older sister, and I think it's crucial for incoming students to have someone to talk to and get inside information from.

Favorite class

JNL 211, Cross Media News Writing. It was interesting, engaging, and extremely helpful for my major and future career.

Career goals

Work as an investigative journalist

Ideal way to spend a free night

I love both hanging out with friends in a dorm or apartment and watching sports or a movie and going out to enjoy Syracuse's social scence.
