Describe your college experience

My transition to college was frightening to me at the beginning, the thought of change really scared me but at the same time I was excited to move out and be on my own. I soon realized these four years were going to be the greatest times of my life. Freshman year I met my very best friends right in my dorm and I'm so grateful to Brody hall for that! You learn quickly how to manage the business of classes and social life and it soon becomes such a regular to you that you dread going home. Sophomore year was somehow even better than freshman year, I last minute decided that I wanted to study abroad and it ended up being the most rewarding thing I have ever done, I would recommend it to any new students to consider. Now I am a junior and I finally got a house off campus living with my best friends I could not ask for more.

Tip for future students

There is so much I wish I knew before coming to college that a lot of students don't think of. I think the biggest thing is to join clubs, extracurriculars and activities you will meet so many people that might end up being your best friends. Leave your door open the first couple weeks, knock on your neighbors doors, introduce yourself, be outgoing and step out of your comfort zone! Don't think that because it is your freshman year that school is not that serious, you will be surprised how easy it is to fall behind and get into bad habits of skipping class. You don't have parents here to make you do anything so stay ahead of things it is not worth retaking any classes. Take your freshman year to figure out what you really want to make a career out of, I still am unsure sometimes and I think if I had really payed more attention my freshman year I would change it.  This is completely biased but I would tell all incoming freshman to live in communal dorms, I personally think north and Brody are the best ways to go, a lot of my friends lived in east and ended up hating it or not getting along with their suite mates. North location is unbeatable. Last thing is spend your money wisely, college will drain your money quicker than you think don't use it all to go out you will regret it!

Favorite class

My favorite class was my freshman year elective, which was introduction to travel and tourism (CSUS 273), the professor was extremely knowledgable and it showed me how important it is to travel the world and step out of your comfort zone. I don't think I would have studied abroad if it were not for that course.

Career goals

After college I hope to move out of Michigan and try something new I want to go into the sales/digital marketing world but I hope for a job that allows me the freedom to travel.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My Ideal way to spend a free night is having friends over for a game night, cooking dinner or going out with friends to meet new people.
