Suhani Patel - Arkansas senior studying Social Work and Psychology
Hi there! I'm a current senior majoring in Social Work and Psychology. Before I found this, I switched my major quite a few times. Thus, I've gotten to experience the classes, professors, and campus spots of various majors from the business school to some of the pre-medicine tracks. I'm excited to share what I've learned about our campus life along the way!

Describe your college experience
Starting college was definitely an adjustment, I had to learn how to put myself in places for opportunity, whether it was finding my people, places, and figuring out what I wanted to study. Changing majors a few times was tough, and confusing at times. But it really helped me meet such different people and explore different parts of campus. Overtime, I've grown more confident, independent, and passionate about the path I've found here.
Tip for future students
Feeling lost those first few weeks is definitely a shared experience! Whether its in your classes, meeting people, and just your way across campus, it takes time to adjust and is completely normal to feel a little new to it all. Don't hesitate to utilize office hours and take advantage of welcome opportunities on campus such as A-Week! The more you put yourself out there, the more you'll find your place and get comfortable.
Favorite class
My favorite class has been Human Diversity in Social Work. It really opened my mind to all the different types of people and pushed me to explore the various lives, cultures, and values of others I hadn't otherwise known more of. I originally came in as a Psychology major with a Social Work minor, but after this class, I knew I wanted to add a stronger focus of Social Work to my studies as well.
Career goals
After college, I hope to become a therapist or counselor. I'm especially passionate about working with individuals one-on-one to empower identity development, whilst finding strengths among their experiences. After graduating, I'd like to pursue my master's in Social Work to continue my path along this way.
Ideal way to spend a free night
As a homebody, my ideal night would consist of something more relaxing. Cooking dinner or ordering takeout with my roommates or friends, and watching our favorite tv show are some of my favorite nights. I also love a cozy night with dim lighting, crocheting, and my cat!
