Boston College
Hi! My name is Mika, and I am an incoming senior at Boston College.
I am from Norwell, Massachusetts, about 40 minutes south of BC. I am the second of four siblings, with two brothers and a sister, as well as a golden retriever Jovie. I love running, reading, and spending summer days on the beach with friends and family. I'm an absolute pop culture junkie, and often fill my hours watching movies and listening to music. My perfect day is a beach day in July eating watermelon and listening to Bob Marley and getting much too burnt....what is everyone else's version of a perfect day?

Describe your college experience
My transition to college was, in all honesty, very difficult, and I struggled to make friends and get comfortable my freshman year. My public school education did not prepare me for the work load or how to manage my free time. I ended first semester wanting to transfer and never go back. But now, as an incoming senior, I cannot imagine going to school anywhere else, having met my best friends here and made incredible memories.
Tip for future students
To make the most of every single moment, because college goes by much faster than you think it will. To push yourself out of your comfort zone from day one because that is how you'll make new friends and create amazing experiences. Don't be afraid to fail - try out for the club team, interview for that job, put yourself out there, because it's more embarrassing to never try than to fail.
Favorite class
My favorite class was my Perspectives class freshman year that combines philosophy and theology. It was a full year class, and we read several old texts ranging from Aristotle to St. Ignatius. I learned more about thought and religion that I ever thought I would, and the class not only taught me about human nature, but it also made me feel incredibly smart and knowledgable.
Career goals
Being a communications major and English minor, I hope to either pursue a role in communications, preferably in sports, specifically Formula 1, something I am very passionate about. I also love books, and would also love to be involved in publishing and marketing of novels.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night is a rainy, gloomy night where my friends and I have a Harry Potter movie marathon with popcorn and chocolate.
