Hi, Im Mackenzie! Im graduating from Wake Forest this May with a BA in History and will be attending NYU in the fall for graduate school. As a Winston Salem native and longtime Wake fan, I can give you the inside scoop on what its like to be a Deac. I have absolutely loved my time at Wake and can't wait to share all that the university has to offer!

Describe your college experience

Although I transferred, I truly consider Wake to be the heart of my college experience. It was where I was able to flourish academically, socially, and personally. While academic work at Wake can be demanding, the social life at Wake is vibrant.

Tip for future students

Apply for study abroad! I had the most amazing and transformative experience while studying abroad. I studied and stayed at Wake Forest's Flow House in Vienna and cannot express how much of a wonderful experience it was. I got to live, travel, and learn with my fellow Deacs.

Favorite class

My favorite class was my major thesis class on U.S. History and Public Memory. It was a challenging class, as I had to write a 25 page research paper, but really developed my writing and research skills and allowed me to more deeply explore my chosen topic. I ended up submitting my paper in the History department's writing competition and won for U.S. History!

Career goals

I will be attending NYU's IFA program in the Fall to pursue a Masters in Art History with a concentration in Art Law. I hope to either work in museums or go on to law school to work in the art law field.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Either staying in and reading a good book or going downtown to Trade Street with my friends

Previous college

Transferred from Salem College in the Spring of 2023 and took cross registration classes at Wake Forest for two semesters prior to officially transferring. Transferring was the best decision I ever made, I finally found my home at Wake.
