My name is Jackson and I grew up about 20 minutes away from Athens in a rural town called Good Hope. I’ve lived on a farm for most my life and I have always loved coming to Athens. UGA has always been in my dream school and as of 3 years ago I figured out that I wanted to become a veterinarian, and there is no better place to become one than at UGA!

Describe your college experience
My transition to college has been amazing but it’s hard to figure out what all to do in your free time. After all the school work you don’t want to just be lazy all day which is why it’s so good going to UGA. There’s always something going on and there are a lot of clubs and activities to do. I found that going to Ramsey center, campus gym, is my way of being productive after school work. I love playing basketball there after getting a workout in. Overall it’s been very fun and I love having the freedom to figure out what I want to do and when I want to do it.
Tip for future students
Make sure that you are prepared to walk a lot. The campus is hilly so it’s impossible not to get a leg workout in. Make sure you also use the dining halls to your advantage. If you’re a cheap skate like me you’ll never give up free food and at UGA the food is pretty good. O-House, you will find, is the best one.
Favorite class
My favorite class so far has been my Bio Lab. I really love being in labs and being active in my classes and the lab gave me that opportunity. I also love meeting new people and the lab gave me the chance to meet new people and work as a team to figure out how to do the task at hand.
Career goals
I hope to get into the UGA vet school and peruse my studies there. I hope to become a veterinarian and eventually run my own clinic.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I love to spend time with my girlfriend and when she’s being an academic weapon I like hanging out with my friends. My free nights are usually us playing some poker, on the PlayStation, or me trying to catch up on Supernatural on Netflix that my girlfriend is already 3 seasons ahead of me.
