I am a neuroscience major looking to pursue mental health research. I am currently involved in a research group on campus that is developing an EEG and VR feedback loop, along with a brainwave identification model in order to merge neurofeedback therapy and VR technology to create personalized therapeutic experiences for individuals struggling with anxiety and depression. I am also undergoing a minor in statistics. I am the Assistant Philanthropy Chairman of Phi Sigma Sigma and also the Campus Outreach Chair of NMDP @ UIUC, an organization that recruits bone marrow donors for individuals suffering from diseases.

Describe your college experience

Transitioning to college is a little lonely at first, but I was grateful enough to be going to school with two of my best friends. I tried to attend every event for first years in the first few weeks in order to meet people, and that helped me make a lot of friends. I really enjoy UIUC much more than I originally thought I would.

Tip for future students

I would encourage you to join RSO's and specifically to attend Quad Day at the beginning of the year. Going to the football and basketball games are also a great way to keep involved. I use a written planner and google calendar to stay organized, especially because so many classes and clubs use many different platforms for assignments and communication, so it is difficult to keep them all straight.

Favorite class

My favorite class was my behavioral neuroscience class (PSYCH-210), because it was extremely interesting, and there were 4 different teachers, all of whom I could see moving forward in higher level psychology classes.

Career goals

I am going to get a PhD and study mental health disorders and how brain structure can be used to predetermine and treat cognitive abnormalities.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I usually meet a group of friends and go out on campus. There are always people out and things going on at UIUC, so it makes for a fun and unique night every time you go out.
