Brown University
Hello! My name is Jamin (jay-min) and I'm a student-athlete at Brown University.
Hi all! My name is Jamin and I'm a student-athlete at Brown University, playing on the Brown Men's soccer team and concentrating in psychology with an interest in sports psychology. Balancing academics and athletics keeps me busy, but I love the challenge and the sense of community it brings. Outside of class and practice, I’m really passionate about music. Whether it's discovering new artists or curating playlists, it’s one of my favorite ways to relax and connect with others. I’m excited to share my experience and help you get a feel for life at Brown!

Describe your college experience
Transitioning from doing online school during my senior year of high school to life at Brown University was definitely an adjustment. Learning how to balance academics, soccer, and everything in between took some time, especially after being in a virtual environment. However, with support from teammates, professors, peers, and other faculty, I quickly adjusted and developed lifelong habits and routines. One of the best parts about Brown has been the people. Everyone is so welcoming, and I’ve built some truly meaningful and lasting connections. I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far and I’m excited to share more about my experiences with you!
Tip for future students
One tip for future students is to ask questions. A lot of people have and are going through the confusing situations and processes you may face, so everyone around (peers, faculty, advisors, coaches, etc.) is willing and want to help you through them. Another tip is to be open-minded and patient. When going into college, many students (including myself) do not know entirely what to pursue, but with the open curriculum at Brown, you may discover some courses, subjects, and concentrations that you initially thought you may not have decided to pursue. Even if you do know what you want to pursue but get stuck, confused, or change interest, Brown offers many options and there are various support systems to help.
Favorite class
My favorite class has been CLPS 1255 Improving Human Performance. This is a class in the Department of Cognitive and Psychological Sciences (CoPsy) that explored what may inhibit performance and ways to navigate these impediments to improve performance. This class was particularly interesting to me being that my main interest is sports psychology, and the professor and discussion-based format of the class made it very enjoyable.
Career goals
Currently, I aim to pursue soccer professionally, so after college, I will continue that path. However, if professional soccer does not work out, I want to go back to school in hopes of pursuing sports psychology.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night is to either watch a movie, watch a show, listen to music, or hang out with friends.
