Describe your college experience

The transition to college was definitely challenging, but I’d do it again a hundred times over. Unlike many of the people I grew up with, I decided to go to school out of state where no one else from my high school was headed. This was definitely scary because it meant completely starting over. I went in knowing no one but was able to put myself out there and make friends within the first two days. Although I may not be very close to those people anymore, they led me to find my best friends. I love my college experience! It has been some of the best years of my life because of all the amazing people I've met and the unforgettable experiences I have had.

Tip for future students

No matter where you end up going, put yourself out there! As someone who was shy in high school, I knew I didn't want to be that way in college. I forced myself to step outside of my comfort zone which led me to meeting so many amazing people and friends. I also recommend taking advantage of every opportunity you have. Cornell is such an amazing school and it's up to you to make the most of it. One of the best ways to do this is by joining a fun recreational club! Find something just for fun—you’ll meet amazing people and create such fun memories.

Favorite class

I loved my NS 4450 class which is Toward a Sustainable Global Food System: Food Policy for Developing Countries. I want to work in the realm of sustainable food policy in the future so this class was right up my ally. Dr. Pingali is an amazing professor and taught the class in a very engaging way.

Career goals

In the future, I aspire to work in environmental policy, focusing on sustainable food systems and nutrition. My goal is to address the intersection of environmental health, agricultural practices, and public well-being. I’m particularly interested in creating policies that promote sustainable farming methods, reduce food waste, and improve access to nutritious, locally sourced foods. By advocating for equitable and sustainable food systems, I hope to tackle issues like food insecurity, climate change, and the environmental impacts of industrial agriculture.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal free night is all about spending time with friends! I enjoy being around people, whether we’re playing board games or heading out for a fun, adventurous activity. I’m all about spontaneity, so a night filled with unexpected adventures would be perfect!
